Self knowledge and personal development are one inseparable evolutionary process. It is the only operational evolutionary process that is taking place over the past 60 years: the Conscious Evolution of individuals, one person at a time, one step at a time, consciously, freely, originally, following nothing. There was a time when evolution was considered to be the blind, coincidental mutation based process controlled by the natural selection of the survival of the fittest. It was considered to be a heartless, meaningless mechanical process that somehow resulted in the creation of the various species, including us humans.
Empathy is the greatest challenge of humanity today. Everyone needs it. It is in huge and growing demand. Empathy is the capacity to know the other from the other’s own point of view, to understand the other from inside. It is not Sympathy ‐ loving the other, nor Antipathy ‐ hating the other. Empathy is the capacity to see, to hear and to know from the inside.
For most people empathy is a gift of character which some people have and others don’t. As I tried to indicate in previous articles in Vitalita Empathy is a new phenomenon in human civilization, replacing the old blood-related tribal understanding of people with a new capacity of consciously understanding any individual.
To See me, Hear me, Know me you will need to See yourself, Hear yourself, Know yourself first’. Empathy is a new capacity which has to be taught. A methodical process for teaching Empathy‐Literacy, as an educational‐ developmental process of Methodical Empathy needs to be consciously created.
Empathy is a new word, a new human capacity and a new frontier of conscious evolution. Required and expected everywhere- empathy can be taught. Empathy is not a technical skill but a new organ of perception for the inner life of another, forged out of a deeper knowledge of oneself. To See, Hear, and Know another human being requires the creation of new capacities of perceptive Imagination, Inspiration, and Intuition within oneself. It is an initiative requiring personal transformation.
An essential communion between human consciousness and the reality of the world was once the fundamental human situation. Young children display for us that essential connection, if we are clear enough to see it, until their self-consciousness starts to separate them from the world and from themselves. The same happens in human evolution as a whole
