Human will is the least conscious and the most consequential of all the soul forces. The lasting value of the short human life is the sum-total of what we do – and what we do not do, before the season is over.
Will is future: the statements: ‘I will do it’ & ‘I have the will to do it’ both use the same core word. All acts of will – will come to fruition in the future. Human will has its own life-force and its own bodily base: the metabolic system, not the brain. It has direct effect on present and future relationship and on the shaping of human destiny. The true meaning of an act of will – will only be revealed in its consequence.
Condition 5 of the 7 Conditions for sustainable personal development, the fundamental structure of the Foundation Year of Psychophonetics is:
- making conscious decisions, and
- acting on decisions. Both present thresholds, challenges and opportunities.
Will power can grow or deteriorate. In Psychophonetics we propose 7 stages of methodical decision making process and 7 processes of developing the will power to act on decisions. That approach requires the mobilisation of 7 potential will resources and potential 7 blocks of the will.
In Psychophonetics we call them the 7 ‘gates’ of the will:
- Instinct
- Energy
- Desire
- Motivation
- Wish
- Intention
- Decision
Each one of these ‘Gates’ can be open or close, controlling our destinies, but they can also be consciously opened. All the 7 gates must open and collaborate with each other for an act to follow. Blocks to one of them can become a block to act of will altogether.

Yehuda L. K. Tagar is an Australian, South African, Central European counsellor, psychotherapist, psychosomatic therapist, organisational development consultant and international trainer of the above. He is the founder of Psychophonetics and Methodical Empathy, director of Psychophonetics Institute International, a co-director & dean of studies of School of Empathy in Slovakia (Skola Empatie), UK, Czech Republic and China, and of ‘7 Conditions Consultancy’.
Why Psychophonetics
Psychophonetics is a powerful form of body-soul-spirit holistic counselling, psycho-somatic expression therapy, psycho-development and mentoring for personal transformation and healing. Created in Australia in the 90’s by Yehuda Tagar it has been practiced and taught in many countries. Based in Slovakia since 2012, its professional training is now being re-created in the UK, Czech Republic and China.
